One-day Hands-on Introduction to XML

Feedback for 2001 Oct 2

After a one-day XML course, students were asked for the best and worst aspects of the course.

Links to feedback for some other recent courses can be found on the training page.

Best Worst
  • Good intro.
  • Like the slides you prepared that we get to keep. Good reference guide.
  • A little fast pace for someone with "beginner" computer skills.
  • Why teach something we won't be able to practice for a while? My memory tends to fail (I know this may have nothing to do with you.)
  • Introduction to DTDs, XML and XMetaL and how these components interrelate.
  • Definition of key terms.
  • Difficult and technical information was brought down to a basic level (most of the time) that could be understood by individuals with limited IT expertise.
  • At times too technical.
  • Could have started session by defining the end product, ie .xls for 3011 form and then worked backwards to define the key components, rather than building ground-up as this coused some confusion as to where the session was going and what the expectations were of us.
  • Informative.
  • A lot of material.
  • I felt I got a good basic understanding of key "elements" (pardon the pun) of DTDs, XML, stylesheets.................
